DAY 24: GINGERBREAD TECHNODROME

After an incredible Christmas countdown, Santa is finally on his way. We've reached the final chapter of 24 Days of Turtle! Closing out this advent calendar is no easy task. Each day, The Sewer Den has presented a gift full of Turtle Power. 24 Days of Turtle must go out with a bodacious bang.

I wanted something big.

Something out of this world.

Something from Dimension X.

Sledding through the snow on Day 24 of 24 Days of Turtle is the Gingerbread Technodrome. Dozens of playsets have been released over the years, but none of them edible. Sink your teeth into the Foot Clan's festive fortress.

24 Days of Turtle: Day 23 (Classic Ornaments)

This holiday season, Santa is coming to the sewers! 24 Days of Turtle is a countdown until Christmas guaranteed to make you merry. From December 1st through 24th, this advent calendar will shell out 24 different TMNT Holiday-themed treats. Each day will offer something new, something ninja.

DAY 23: CLASSIC ORNAMENTS

Holiday decorations are subjected to a sad life. Despite a month or so of pure bliss, they spend most of the year confined to a box in the basement. They're prisoners with only a limited chance to strut their stuff.

However, their time stuffed in storage builds anticipation. Excavating your decorations every year becomes a comforting tradition. You rediscover the treasures that remained dormant for months and months.

These festive fixtures are my earliest memory of that tradition. Each year, my Mom & Dad would dig out the boxes, while I eagerly awaited the return of a cowabunga Christmas. My childhood bedroom was a showcase for the TMNT phenomenon. The massive collection was proudly on display year-round. However, these ornaments were a limited engagement.

As December approaches, I still instinctively know it’s the season for Turtle tree-trimming. The ornaments get their annual chance to boast their mutant magic – and it fills me with holiday cheer.

Make sure to return tomorrow for the FINAL DAY of 24 Days of Turtle!

24 Days of Turtle: Day 22 (Joyeux Noël)

DAY 22: JOYEUX NOËL

My life is a juggling act. I’m constantly battling against growing up, but at the same time, find myself diving deeper into the adult existence. I want all those perks of being older, but don’t want to lose my child-like affection towards fun.

This holiday season, I’m attempting to fuse the two together.

24 Days of Turtle: Day 21 (Holiday Jello)

This holiday season, Santa is coming to the sewers! 24 Days of Turtle is a countdown until Christmas guaranteed to make you merry. From December 1st through 24th, this advent calendar will shell out 24 different TMNT Holiday-themed treats. Each day will offer something new, something ninja.

DAY 21: HOLIDAY JELLO

You've heard it a million times. It's like a playlist with only one song, stuck on repeat.

"Don't play with your food."

Adults love bellowing out that order. But, who are they to judge? They don't exactly set a proper example during the holidays. Adults love to string their popcorn and craft small houses made of cookies. They even stuff candies inside hanging socks! With such strange behavior, there's no way to discourage kids from playing with their festive foods. No one likes a holiday hypocrite.

The Sewer Den is all about being silly. Playing with your food during the snowy season is only natural. For Day 21 of 24 Days of Turtle, forget the jingle, it's all about the jiggle.

24 Days of Turtle: Day 20 (Michelangelo's Christmas Special DVD)

DAY 20:
MICHELANGELO'S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL DVD

Holidays are a great time for television. The normal programming mutates into a schedule brimming with Christmas cheer. Characters don Santa costumes, sets are transformed into winter wonderlands, and episodes wrap with a happy ending. These shows boost our Christmas spirit and ignite a countdown to the 25th.

Nickelodeon has been airing new TMNT episodes left and right. Most are instant classics. But, we've been left in the cold without a Christmas episode. No Nickelodeon holiday special? No problem. I tracked down something to capture my sewer spirit. It took dedicated exploring, but I found yuletide treasure.

24 Days of Turtle: Day 19 (Satin Ornaments)

This holiday season, Santa is coming to the sewers! 24 Days of Turtle is a countdown until Christmas guaranteed to make you merry. From December 1st through 24th, this advent calendar will shell out 24 different TMNT Holiday-themed treats. Each day will offer something new, something ninja.

DAY 19: SATIN ORNAMENTS

The Turtles love a campy Christmas. Their holiday merchandise is steeped in seasonal puns, bad jokes, and Turtle tackiness. But, they’re a goofy group of teenagers. There’s no reason they should be expected to bring sophistication to the holidays. But then, much like Santa, they bear a surprise.

These 6 ornaments deliver a dose of class to your Christmas tree.

24 Days of Turtle: Day 18 (Candy Cane Coin Bank)

This holiday season, Santa is coming to the sewers! 24 Days of Turtle is a countdown until Christmas guaranteed to make you merry. From December 1st through 24th, this advent calendar will shell out 24 different TMNT Holiday-themed treats. Each day will offer something new, something ninja.

DAY 18: CANDY CANE COIN BANK

Splinter teaches a lot of important lessons down in the sewer. Aside from training the Turtles in martial arts, the rat also sets a strong example in patience & discipline. But now, he's putting his tail into new territory - banking. This Christmas season, it seems there is a new lesson for kids to learn. The ancient art of a savings account.

The Turtles have become role models with this Christmas goodie. Instead of encouraging kids to only eat sweets during the holiday season, they also offer the option to save a few bucks. Satisfy your sweet tooth AND pinch a few pennies? This is a lesson Master Splinter would certainly approve of.

24 Days of Turtle: Day 17 (Cowabunga Carl Ornament)

DAY 17: COWABUNGA CARL ORNAMENT

In 2007, my life was in a state of mutation. College ended, I had a full time job, and was living in a Brooklyn apartment. The transition from college kid to working professional was going smoothly. My work colleagues and I got along like Christmas cookies and milk. But back then, my passion for the Turtles wasn’t on my resume.

Brief hints of TMNT love occasionally surfaced, but my colleagues had no clue how deep into the sewers this devotion went. On Friday, March 23, 2007 everything changed. That morning I slipped on a TMNT t-shirt and proudly wore it to work. Safely tucked in my wallet was a movie ticket to the 4th theatrical film featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

At work, the clock was frozen and my Turtle-anticipation boiled. I kept getting questions about my TMNT t-shirt. Everyone had an inkling I was a fan, but my wardrobe put them over the edge. I was prepared for jabs and jokes at my expense, but to my surprise, they bought movie tickets!

When the big moment came, I was wearing my TMNT t-shirt in a packed theater with a handful of colleagues. The intern even joined in! Say what you will about the movie, but the experience and comradery were incredible.

This Cowabunga Carl ornament brings me back to that night – an evening with adults, but everyone had the heart of a child. I always assume at each stage of my life, I’ll be forced to outgrow the Turtles – a time when I must say goodbye. But, will that ever happen? From a kid, to my college days, and as a working professional – everyone has supported my crazy, cowabunga ways.
