24 Days of Turtle: Day 11 (Nickelodeon Candy Cane)

This holiday season, Santa is coming to the sewers! 24 Days of Turtle is a countdown until Christmas guaranteed to make you merry. From December 1st through 24th, this advent calendar will shell out 24 different TMNT Holiday-themed treats. Each day will offer something new, something ninja.

DAY 11: NICKELODEON CANDY CANE

Candy canes. Each year, I place them around my home, attach them to gifts, and even hang them from the Christmas tree. There are endless flavor combinations and intoxicating colors. I’ve always accepted candy canes as a part of the holiday, but why? Their origin is a complete mystery to me. How did this silly striped stick become entangled with Christmas?

A simple internet search could provide me with answers, but honestly, I like the obscurity. I’m okay turning a blind eye to the beginnings of the candy cane.

Maybe my lack of interest comes from a lack of enjoyment. Candy canes aren’t for me. They’re so delicate and always seem to break halfway through while I’m working away (and that’s what they are, work). But for kids, I totally see the appeal. It’s an oblong rod of sugar that’s a sticky mess.

Nickelodeon’s TMNT took a normal cane and mutated it into this colossal candy. Measuring 7 inches, this dude means business. Can anyone possibly eat this in one sitting? It would take the whole month of December for me to devour it.

The Sewer Den doesn’t have any candy canes from the classic TMNT cartoon, so this is a joyous addition. Do I save it for the collection or attempt the impossible by eating the thing? Maybe I’ll throw a holiday party where we pass it around and everyone takes their licks. Any takers?

Make sure to return tomorrow for Day 12 of 24 Days of Turtle!

  1. Haha, I'll do it.

Candy canes were always just fun to have and eat for me always. It's nice for the holidays, or just whenever to eat, but, a TMNT candy cane just makes it /way/ better. It takes a monotonous red and white striped and turns it into something fun to eat. Totally neat-o.

    1. How about that week in-between Christmas & New Years? I feel like that's a good time to wolf down a mutated candy cane.

Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.
