24 Days of Turtle (2014): Day 17 (Colossal Michelangelo)

Welcome to the 2014 edition of 24 Days of Turtle. The awesome advent calendar features daily TMNT holiday-themed treasures. There will be festive fun, gracious gifts, and Turtle Powered prizes!

Go colossal on Day 17 of the countdown.

COLOSSAL MICHELANGELO
(2014)

Honey, I blew up the Turtle.

For months, I saw this massive mutant lurking in stores like a weighty statue. His beady blue eyes peered right into my TMNT-loving soul. I never planned on purchasing him. But as time ticked by, I grew fascinated by the bulky ninja. His 4 foot-frame offers endless opportunities for silliness. Wacky scenarios began dancing in my head like sugar plums.

Once Colossal Michelangelo went on sale discounted, I caved and my wallet took a hit. I had him shipped to my parents' house (the location of The Sewer Den collection). To their surprise, a massive box arrived on their doorstep right before Thanksgiving. I gave them permission to crack it open. Even they loved the goofy giant.

The craftsmanship is mediocre at best, but the excessive size is the selling point. He's an absolute blast to have around. Kids and adults can't help but have fun when this 4 foot Turtle is in the room. You can put him in amusing positions or dress him up with kooky accessories.

And that's why this dude is on 24 Days of Turtle. There are limitless possibilities to make the mutant festive.

Plop a Santa hat on Mikey's head to quickly ignite his holiday spirit.

If you don't celebrate Christmas, don't fret. This guy looks good in a kippah/yarmulke too.

When the winter nights make the holiday season cold, Mikey bundles up with bodacious style.

The hulking Turtle will surely bring you joy - whatever way you decide to decorate him.

Each day of 24 Days of Turtle will feature a Turtle-Powered present.

The internet would break if I uploaded a high-res copy of Colossal Michelangelo. Let's scale down to Mikey that's more manageable. Today's gift is a scan of a 1990 Michelangelo mini-stocking from the original cartoon series. Print, cut-along the dotted line, and hang this party dude from your mantel or Christmas tree.

The image is pretty large. Resize it to your liking!

With all these TMNT DIY goodies, your home must be mutated into a festive Turtle Power palace by now!

Check back tomorrow for DAY 18 of 24 Days of Turtle for more festive fun, gracious gifts, and possible prizes! Until then, stay jolly, dudes & dudettes!

  1. Your Mikey looks a lot better than the ones I saw in my WalMart. Both of the ones there were about to lose their left arms.

He would probably make a great theft deterrent too. Just place him in a darkened hallway, and I'm sure he would frighten away any ne'er do wells.

    1. I love this idea! I need to get home a frightening mask & a toy shotgun.

  2. That is awesome, I've been toying with picking this up, still havn't but it looks amazing, I'd put him in my car so I could ride the carpool lanes out here as well as the theft deterrent Chris mentioned, cause no one messes with Mikey.

    1. Instead of "Colossal Michelangelo" he should be called, "Carpool Mikey!"

  3. Where did you find him? I'd love a Colossal Leonardo!

    1. You can find him all over, but online was cheaper & easier. Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, Amazon, etc.

Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.
