24 Days of Turtle (2014): Day 3 (2K3 Leonardo Ornament)

Welcome to the 2014 edition of 24 Days of Turtle. The awesome advent calendar features daily TMNT Christmas-themed treasures. There will be festive fun, gracious gifts, and Turtle Powered prizes!

Let's trim the tree here on DAY 3 of the countdown.

2K3 LEONARDO ORNAMENT
(2005)

My Christmas tree is festooned in cowabunga. A decorative piece of TMNT history dangles from every branch. Each ornament is awesome in its own way. But for the most part, they're seasonal and silly. Raphael in a Santa suit doesn't exactly evoke the darker tone of the original comics.

Hallmark's Keepsake Leonardo Ornament from the 2K3 series gives my Christmas tree a boost of bad ass. No seasonal gimmicks, just a proud Turtle Power pose. The craftsmanship is top-notch and Leonardo's likeness to the show is very accurate. Congratulations Hallmark, you did a fantastic job in bringing this Turtle to life. Although, I'm about 10 years late with my praise...

You'd expect to see a set of candy canes replacing Leonardo's usual swords. But, the ninja keeps his weapons sheathed upon his shell - guarding the gifts beneath your Christmas tree.

This guy is one of my favorites. Although clearly from the 2K3 series, the ornament feels timeless. The fun design and defiant pose are a combination that capture the spirit of every era of TMNT. He's a shining star in my among my ornaments.

Each day of 24 Days of Turtle will feature a Turtle-Powered present.

Do you love this ornament, but can't justify shelling out the cash on eBay for it? Consider this a Christmas miracle. Today's gift is a paper decoration capturing the likeness of the 2K3 Leonardo Ornament. Print, cut-along the dotted line, and hang this hero from your tree.

The image is pretty large. Resize it to your liking!

In addition to the faux ornament, I also scanned the original Hallmark Keepsake card. I'm not sure what people do with these things, but it's a cool item to add to your collection.

Check back tomorrow for DAY 4 of 24 Days of Turtle for more festive fun, gracious gifts, and possible prizes! Until then, stay jolly, dudes & dudettes!

Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.
